Keynotes and Plenaries

The symposium kicks off with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by welcoming messages from the Japanese and Philippine co-organizers, setting a collaborative tone for the event. The Chair's talk on the integration of AR and AI in education addresses the automation dilemma in modern learning environments. The day continues with an orientation and a keynote speech, laying the groundwork for immersive discussions. Sessions cover innovative topics like VR-based language learning, the iconicity ratings in VR environments, and a case study from the University of Glasgow on their VR teaching lab. Afternoon sessions include demonstrations of XR for education, discussions on VR training for CSI, and explorations of mixed reality for learning algebra. The day concludes with a panel on COIL and the Metaverse and a presentation on using AR and MR for climate change education, ending with a fellowship dinner.
